On August 6, 2019, King County voters approved a measure to renew the property tax levy supporting parks, trails, and open space in King County. Executive Dow Constantine announced nearly $30 million in King County Parks Levy funding for 53 projects that will build and upgrade aquatic facilities, enhance parks and trails, protect and restore river corridors, and make access to healthy recreation more equitable. Thank you to everyone involved in granting us $103k for our safety classes and to replace our windows!
Evergreen Pool has been generously awarded $29,000 to replace flooring and damaged wooden cabinets and equipment from the Employees Community Fund (ECF) of The Boeing Company. Boeing is a leading global aerospace company that develops, manufactures, and services commercial airplanes, defense products, and space systems for customers in over 150 countries, leveraging a diverse, talented workforce and a global supplier base to drive innovation and sustainability. Organized into three business units—Commercial Airplanes; Defense, Space & Security; and Global Services—Boeing is committed to safety, quality, and integrity while expanding its product line and services to meet emerging customer needs.
The Norman Archibald Charitable Foundation awarded the Evergreen Aquatic Center $8,250 for upgrades to our facility.
Norman Archibald was a long time resident of Seattle. He died on September 21, 1975, at the age of 81 and left no immediate family. The Foundation was established in March of 1976 as directed by his will. Upon his death Mr. Archibald’s estate was valued at approximately $4 million. Apart from some modest bequests, the remainder was left in trust with Pacific National Bank of Washington (now Wells Fargo N.A.) for charitable purposes.
Evergreen Pool has been generously awarded $20,000 to support swim lesson scholarships for 2024! The USA Swimming Foundation aims to provide the opportunity for every child in the U.S. to learn to swim. Through an annual grant program and by partnering with swim lesson providers and water safety advocates across the country, we help to support swimming lessons, and educate children and their families on the importance of learning how to swim.
SMAC has awarded the pool a generous $5,000 on top of their rental fees. This donation goes towards our operations. SMAC's mission is to build an inclusive community committed to exemplary performance. Our vision is to consistently achieve 'Gold' level, Top 20 status in USA Swimming, while providing opportunities for all members in a safe and supportive environment, aligned with our mission of inclusion.
King County Council has awarded the pool $5,000 for general donations. The Metropolitan King County Council oversees the second largest government and the most populous county in Washington State. With more than 2.3 million residents, King County is the 12th largest county in the U.S. As the legislative branch of county government, the Council sets policies, enacts laws, and adopts budgets that guide an array of services for county residents. The Council's nine councilmembers are elected on a non-partisan basis and serve four-year terms. Each councilmember represents a geographical district of over 260,000 residents.
Wellpoint, previously Amerigroup, our continual donor, has granted us $5,000 for our programming. Wellpoint is a health plan dedicated to delivering whole-person health insurance plans and solutions, addressing physical, social, and emotional needs through a robust network of doctors, hospitals, and user-friendly technology. With a local presence, we tailor our benefits and programs to the unique needs of each community. An affiliate of Elevance Health, Wellpoint has been a trusted healthcare provider for over 30 years, offering Medicare Advantage and SNP plans through partnerships with Medicare and state Medicaid programs, dependent on contract renewals.
The Puget Sound Energy (PSE) Foundation is dedicated to keeping our communities safe and prepared where PSE serves and operates. The PSE Foundation is a nonprofit organization that operates independently of Puget Sound Energy. None of the funds will ever come from PSE’s utility customers. We were the recipient of a competitive grant award in the amount of $4,100 for our work to Empower Community Resiliency.
King County has donated $3,034 to the pool for shower repairs. King County, the largest county in Washington State, is home to a vibrant and diverse community. At Evergreen Aquatic Center, we are dedicated to serving the residents of this expansive region by providing essential aquatic services.
